Lubbock Christian University’s RN-BSN program can be completed in 2-3 semesters while working full-time. All courses are offered 100% online except for optional on-campus attendance one day per week.

Students may attend full-time or part-time, with flexibility to take core courses concurrently with nursing courses.

RN-to-BSN Admission Requirements

Students receive 42 validation hours for completing their Associate or Diploma nursing program. New students can enter at the beginning of each semester or at mid-point of Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.

Academic Requirements:

  • Graduate from approved nursing school
  • Minimum grade of C in prerequisite/core courses
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 on 4.0 scale
  • Official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended

Licensure:

  • Current or pending RN licensure verified by School of Nursing

Additional Requirements:

  • Complete online application to LCU
  • Complete School of Nursing RN-BSN application
  • Evidence of liability insurance (may be purchased through Nursing Department)
  • Criminal background check
  • Copy of CPR card (if not employed as nurse)
  • Complete FAFSA document
  • Interview/advising appointment with BSN Program Director

Transfer Credits:

Curriculum

The program requires a minimum of 120 total credit hours including general education core, nursing major courses, and supporting courses.

Nursing Major (29 hours)

All nursing courses require minimum grade of C.

NUR4100 Introduction to BSN
Orientation to the BSN journey, highlighting core baccalaureate concepts—leadership, communication, and critical thinking—plus the academic supports and resources that enable timely degree completion.

NUR3300 Professional Nursing Practice
Builds the BSN nurse’s professional identity through self-reflection, ethical decision-making, and polished written and verbal communication, applying evidence-based practice to drive better patient outcomes.

NUR3307 Personal Wellness
Centers on nurse well-being with practical, holistic self-care strategies and stress-management skills so clinicians can sustain personal health while meeting the demands of practice.

NUR3313 Cultural Diversity
Uses a “beloved” theological lens to examine cultural awareness and wellness across settings, analyzing historical, social, political, economic, spiritual, and geographic forces that shape care for vulnerable populations.

NUR3314 Trends and Issues
Explores contemporary issues impacting nursing and healthcare, with emphasis on how evolving policies and system changes influence practice and patient access.

NUR4201 Nursing Research
Introduces the research process and evidence appraisal so nurses become savvy consumers of science, translating inquiry and findings into everyday clinical decisions.

NUR4302 Community Health
Covers prevention, promotion, protection, and policy in community settings, integrating equity, family and cultural context, and resource navigation; includes a community-based practicum.

NUR4304 Nursing Leadership
Develops leadership competencies for complex systems—interprofessional collaboration, change management, and evidence-based decision-making—reinforced through a practicum with healthcare leaders.

NUR4308 Spirituality in Nursing
Examines how spiritual beliefs and nursing, pastoral, and social science theories inform holistic care, guiding compassionate practice for patients, families, communities, and self.

NUR4315 Nursing Informatics
Introduces data management, health information systems, and clinical decision support, showing how informatics integrates with nursing to improve safety, quality, and outcomes.

NUR4204 BSN Capstone
Synthesizes the BSN role with a focused emphasis on leadership, communication, and critical thinking, culminating in professional practice readiness and growth.

Clinicals

The program includes practicum components in two courses:

  • NUR4302 Community Health: Includes community volunteer practicum focusing on health equity, community assessment, and resource identification for patient transitions from hospital to community
  • NUR4304 Nursing Leadership: Includes practicum with healthcare setting leaders focusing on interprofessional collaboration and team management skills

Tuition

Undergraduate nursing tuition for 2025-26 is charged per semester at a block rate:

  • 12-18 credit hours per semester: $14,780 tuition + $60 health services fee + $270 technology fee = $15,110 total per semester
  • Students enrolled in 6 or more hours per semester receive nursing tuition discount
